I DID NOT lose the snake again. I know where he is. I, simply, can't reach him. He's in the right wall speaker in the frontroom. Who woulda thunk that a speaker had a hole in the bottom? I've taken off the "screen", but no unscrewing seems to result in the removal of the speaker [which #1's boyfriend says I must do to reach down and retrieve the snake.]
